Tanya Mittal has urged people to stop excessive online hate against comedian Pranit More, saying criticism should not affect his family's dignity.
Bigg Boss 19 contestant Tanya Mittal has defended comedian Pranit More amid the controversy surrounding the viral ‘Rs 370 biryani’ remark, saying criticism should not reach a point where it affects his family and personal life.
Television actor and Bigg Boss 19 contestant Tanya Mittal has spoken in support of fellow contestant and stand-up comedian Pranit More, who has been facing backlash over the controversial “Rs 370 biryani” incident.
Speaking to Fever FM, Tanya acknowledged that Pranit had made a mistake and that the criticism against him was understandable. However, she said the online outrage should not continue to a level where his family finds it difficult to live with dignity.
“I do feel bad for Pranit. A mistake was made, FIRs were filed, and he has already faced severe public backlash,” Tanya said, questioning whether social media toxicity had gone too far.
She urged people to know when to stop after expressing criticism and raising questions. According to her, Pranit is also a human being and should be allowed an opportunity to move on after acknowledging his mistake.
Tanya further pointed out that anyone could find themselves under similar scrutiny in the future for comments made in jest, and therefore people should show some empathy instead of continuing relentless trolling.
The controversy began after a video from Pranit More's stand-up show in Gurgaon went viral. During the interaction, an audience member, Himanshu Jangra, claimed that after spending ₹370 on a biryani date with a woman, he expected physical intimacy in return.
Instead of condemning the remark, Pranit jokingly described it as “peak Gurgaon behaviour.” Critics accused the comedian of endorsing sexist and non-consensual attitudes.
The controversy intensified after Pranit himself uploaded the clip on social media instead of editing out the controversial portion.
Following widespread criticism online, Pranit More deactivated his Instagram account. Multiple FIRs were reportedly filed against him over the issue.
Meanwhile, audience member Himanshu Jangra also faced heavy criticism on social media. Reports suggest that the controversy eventually led to the termination of his job in Gurgaon.
The incident has sparked a larger debate over accountability, online trolling, and whether social media outrage should have limits even after an individual acknowledges a mistake.
